Zombie Outbreak Manageability Scale™ (ZOM1-ZOM5)
- ZOM1: Fewer than 10
cases. Don't expect any news coverage. The government will likely be in full cover-up mode if aware at all. Accidental outbreak containment is possible, but obviously we are talking about a volatile situation.
- ZOM2: More than 10 but fewer than 100 cases. All non essential travel to the area should
be suspended. Avoid transit and shopping centers within affected counties. Mainstream news sources continue with the usual trite garbage, and refuse to air reports of zombies out of fear of inciting riotous chaos.
- ZOM3: More than 100 but fewer than 1000 cases. First responders begin to encounter more unprovoked attacks as evidenced by the increasing number of reported assaults and witness accounts. It is likely the police will consider the reports humorous, and any subsequent quick response will be delayed.
- ZOM4: More than 1000 and possibly exceeding 100,000 reported
cases and approaching continental epidemic. Live news coverage
incites riotous chaos. Reporters able to obtain
live shots of zombies at will. Police are overwhelmed and struggling to achieve containment often becoming victims themselves. Area hospitals are overrun with patients lacking any vital signs.
- ZOM5: 1,000,000 or more PANDEMIC. Communications
and power disruption are widespread. Expect to be without cellular, internet, radio, and TV service. Widespread chaos. FEMA support unlikely. The government will most likely reassure the public of their safety by broadcasting messages downplaying the severity of the events. Officials resolve to have a meeting in two weeks. Apocalypse. Kiss your ass goodbye.
